ABSTRACTThe study was conducted to identify the preliminary phytochemical constituents present in Hypnea flagelliformisGreville ex J.Ag. from Koothankuzhi coast, Tirunelveli district, the south east coast of Tamil Nadu, India. Thepreliminary phytochemical analysis was carried out in seven extracts namely methanol, acetone, chloroform, ethyl acetate, petroleum ether, benzene and hexane by Harborne method. The preliminary phytochemical analysis showed the presenceof anthocyanins, alkaloids, phytosteroids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, quinones, glycosides, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids, phenols, anthraquinones, phlobatannins, coumarins and diterpenes. Among the various secondary metabolitesstudied, coumarins, phenols and tannins showed the maximum presence, being found in six different extracts andanthocyain, cardiac glycosides, glycosides and phlobatannins were observed only in three extracts. From the observation,it was recorded that the various extracts of Hypnea flagelliformis Greville ex J.Ag. was found to be the presence of anumber of active secondary metabolites. This result will lead to the isolation and characterization of these activesecondary metabolites for bioactivity.KEY WORDS: Phytochemical, Metabolites, Seaweed extracts, Hypnea, Tamil Nadu

ABSTRACTOcular anatomy and physiology is very unique which is why it creates a challenge in developing drugs given by ocular routes. The Eye has several layers of tissues in it. This route is extremely effective due to its rapid onset of action and small dose requirement. Transcorneal penetration is the route of absorption of drug. Several different dosage forms are being developed e.g nanoparticles, liposomes, nanomicelles and microemulsion to overcome difficulties in drug delivery by this route. This review focused on ocular drug delivery has become the standard in modern pharmaceutical design and several possible routes of drug delivery into the ocular tissues.KEY WORDS: Ophthalmic drug delivery, Novel drug delivery, Occusert, Eye, gel.

The estimation of Sultiam in formulation by RP – HPLC method taking water and methanol in the ratio 70:30. Standard substance was dissolved in Methanol was scanned and the spectra was recorded and the spectrum shows that λmax of Sultiam was 245 nm. The calibration curve was plotted using concentration against peak area. With the optimized chromatographic conditions, the drug was linear in the concentration range of 2.5 - 15 μg/ ml. The correlation coefficient was found to be 0.998. By using this method, the main peak of Sultiam was eluted at 5.94 minutes. In this method the optical parameters like Correlation coefficient, Slope, Intercept, LOD and LOQ were calculated.KEY WORDS: RP-HPLC, Composition, Benzenesulfonamide, Hypromellose.

The proposed work was planned to synthesis ester using Knoevenagal condensation method by simplified green chemical approach. The mixture of aldehyde (1 m mole) & active methylene compound (1 m mole) & sodium carbonate (0.1 m mole) were ground together in a mortar at 26° c. The reaction mixture was solidified. The melting point, IR, HNMR & LC Mass spectral data of novel arylmethylidene compounds was prepared. The antibacterial and antifungal activity was also performed.Key Words: Methylene compound, Sodium bicarbonate, Knoevenagal condensate, Antibacterial and Antifungal.

Benzopyrazines a versatile heterocyclic scaffold in 2, 3-diphenyl quinoxaline plays a significant role in the pharmaceutical field and present in many medicinally important derivatives used as antiviral, anticancer, antimicrobial agents, etc. In the present revision, a few 2, 3 diphenylquinoxaline derivatives have been synthesized and characterized. The synthesized compounds were screened for their in-vitro growth inhibiting activity against different strains of bacteria and fungi viz., Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus faecalis, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhi, at 10 and 50 μg/ml concentration by using agar well diffusion technique. The results were compared with the standard antibiotics Ciprofloxacin (10 μg/ml). All the newly synthesized derivatives (A1-4 & B1-6) were produced significant action against the bacterial strains at 10 μg/ml concentration. Meanwhile, no compounds have produced the promising activity against that of fungi strains even though while increasing concentrations.KEY WORDS: 2, 3-diphenyl quinoxaline, Antimicrobial Evaluation, Agar well diffusion technique.

A simple, sensitive, accurate UV spectrophotometric method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of Escitalopram oxalate and Clonazepam in bulk and in pharmaceutical dosage form. In this communication simultaneous equation method was reported for the assay of both the drugs in the pharmaceutical dosage form. In simultaneous equation method the absorbance of the sample was measured at 246 nm and 230 nm respectively by using methanol which was further applied for determining the concentration of the both the drugs. The proposed method was validated statistically for specificity, linearity, accuracy and precision. The low values of standard deviation and percentage RSD indicated high precision of method. This method was successfully used for routine analysis of Escitalopram oxalate and Clonazepam in combination dosage form with good recoveries.KEY WORDS: Escitalopram oxalate, Clonazepam, UV method, Validation.
